Collaborations
Working with Museums, Schools and the community has helped us at TSI with networking, engaging with the public, and securing more outreach talks that we love doing. As a volunteer led and ran project, we try to keep our educational stalls free of charge locally but may require schools or museums to pay travel expenses or donations. This helps us continue running our site each month, getting travel costs sorted for our team so we can provide the best outreach education that we can offer!
We've had some amazing opportunities these past few years.
Just recently we've worked with Durham University of Archaeology for three days during a temporary artist exhibition, and their Heritage Open Days event. As well as every summer we're invited to table at the 'Leicester University Botanical Gardens Plant Sale & Family Day'.

Gone But Not Forgotten: Remembering Britain's Vanished Species Through Art and Science
Gone But Not Forgotten brings together museum specimens and original artwork by Stephen Livingstone to explore the stories of animals that have disappeared from Britain or become increasingly rare.
Drawing on rarely displayed objects from Durham University's Natural Science Collection, the exhibition features skeletons, skulls, taxidermy and paintings that reveal the traces animals leave behind and invite us to imagine the lives they once lived. From the Megaloceras (Giant Deer) and Great Auk to Wolves and Lynx, these remarkable species help tell a story of change, loss and survival.
By using art and natural history, the exhibition encourages visitors to look more closely at the natural world, reflect on Britain's changing wildlife, and consider why these stories still matter today.
The exhibition included a loan of a juvenile Great Auk specimen from the Natural History Society of Northumbria, helping to showcase one of Britain's most iconic extinct birds.
Volunteers of The Skull Index CIC were at this exhibition with tables full of skulls, pelts, and other natural history specimens for 3 days between August and September 2026!
CHARNWOOD ECO HUB
Natural History Observational Drawing Workshop
We were invited by Charnwood Eco Hub in Loughborough in June 2026 to provide specimens for an Observational Drawing workshop. The event was fully booked out and we had a range of ages attend. Amazing feedbakc was received and we even got asked to do an adults only evening event one day! Hoping to work with Charnwood Eco Hub again in the near future.
